RUSS DAVIES

Cinnamon Chasers sound can be described as energetic, melodic electronic dance music, and has a broad range of influences pulling inspiration from electro-pop, progressive house, retrowave, indie-dance, new-wave & techno - but above all aims to be unique and unlike anything else. Cinnamon Chasers cites early pioneers like Giorgio Moroder, Vangelis, Jean-Micheal Jarre, and KLF as key influences and were described by Juno.co.uk as "a fusion of Aeroplane, Friendly Fires, Kris Menace and Alan Braxe, with a dash of Vangelis and Jean Michel Jarre thrown in." Cinnamon Chasers is inspired by films like Flight Of The Navigator, Never ending Story. “I try to create music that gives me the vibe those classic films gave me as a kid”. Cinnamon Chasers aims to create music that has an honest heart, and good intentions, and feels like a good friend, and this is achieved with a perfect blend of crisp electronics, Pop based song structure and melodies, and an Indie feel '.

“Russ returns to his Cinnamon Chasers project with the excellent Doorways, bringing back his trademark sound that hovers somewhere in between progressive house, 80s synth, electropop and disco. It's a textbook example of how to make unique and energetic house…whether it's Abakus or Cinnamon Chasers, whether it's house or downtempo, he always pulls it off with conviction and excellent production. Chalk this up to yet another great release from the talented Russ Davies.”

Abakus is a psychedelic downtempo electronica alias, started in 2004 with his inaugural album "That Much Closer to the Sun. He has since released the albums "We Share the Same Dreams", "Prisms", "Silent Geometry", and the most recent "Departure".

"The prodigiously gifted Russ Davies releases his first Abakus album in three years, and the qualities that made last year’s e.p. The Beginning/Dreamer so outstanding are all here. Book-ended by two Daft Punk-like songs and containing nine lush instrumentals, Departure finds him applying his incredible pop smarts and grasp of melody on a blissfully chilled-out canvas. His downtempo distillations of punchy synthpop, underground trance, progressive house and Balearic lounge literally sparkle with life and light. The arpeggio-driven “Dreamer” and “The Beginning” provide the album’s euphoric peaks, surrounded by slightly more sedate fare that ebbs and flow on steady, hypnotic breakbeats. “Still A Soul” has harmonies of weeping beauty, while “Storm” shows his knack for harvesting the very best qualities of melodic club trance without any of its cheesiness. Departure is deeply loving music, the very essence of quiet joy and gentle euphoria, captured in a bottle and cast upon an ocean where the sun shines eternal."
