ABAKUS

Atmospheric journeys through emotion, rhythm, and the spaces between

what is abakus?

Abakus is a journey into futuristic sound and otherworldly emotions that aspires to connect on a deeper level—an immersive exploration of lush 3D soundscapes, enchanting melodies, and hypnotic rhythms. Born in the early ‘00, Abakus bridges the organic and the synthetic, blending melodic textures with deep grooves to create a sound that is both timeless and transformative. Whether it’s the chilled pulse of downtempo electronica or the soaring energy of progressive beats, Abakus is about losing yourself in abstract sound worlds and rediscovering the spaces in between.

THE WORLDS OF ABAKUS

THE JOURNEY

Abakus introduced his visionary sound to the world with the 2004 debut album, That Much Closer to the Sun, creating a innovative new sound that redefined downtempo, and went on to become a cult classic amongst lovers of psychedelic electronica. Over the years, Russ has continued to evolve the Abakus concept with albums We Share the Same Dreams, Prisms, Silent Geometry, Departure and the most recent Dreamscapes.

That Much Closer to the Sun (2004): "The debut that started it all, a timeless journey into downtempo electronica."

We Share the Same Dreams (2008): "An exploration of ethereal melodies and Balearic vibes."

Prisms (2012): "A kaleidoscope of vibrant soundscapes and experimental rhythms."

Silent Geometry (2015): "A masterpiece of hypnotic grooves and textured melodies."

Departure (2020): "A deeply loving album, capturing the essence of gentle euphoria."

“The prodigiously gifted Russ Davies releases his first Abakus album in three years. Departure is deeply loving music, the very essence of quiet joy and gentle euphoria, captured in a bottle and cast upon an ocean where the sun shines eternal.”
